The Legacy Center for Community Success (TLC) will introduce a Youth Asset Builder tool at its parent town hall meeting later this week. The web-based tool, which will allow parents of middle and high school students to search for local youth programs in the Midland area, will be unveiled at TLC’s Parent Town Hall: Assets & Youth Activities on Thursday, March 14, 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library Community Room (downstairs). The event is free, but registration is required at www.drugfreemidland.org/events.

“We’ve been promoting Developmental Assets® for 15 years, and parents are always asking us about practical ways they can help their teens acquire them,” says Jennifer Heronema, TLC’s President & CEO. “We believe the Youth Asset Builder will be a valuable tool for parents to seek out these opportunities.”

The Youth Asset Builder tool will be available on TLC’s website (www.tlc4cs.org) under the Youth Development dropdown menu. Parents will be able to search programs by age range, activity type, and the eight domains of the Developmental Assets framework. Developmental Assets are 40 research-based, positive qualities that influence young people’s development, helping them become caring, responsible, and productive adults.

The Legacy Center invites parents, and anyone else who interacts with teens, to attend the town hall meeting to learn more about Developmental Assets and how the Asset Builder Tool works.
