This is (Not) About Drugs (TINAD) is an in-class, universal program that teaches students about substance misuse, how to recognize the symptoms of an opioid overdose, the availability of the opioid reversal drug naloxone, and the importance of calling 911 to get help for a person in need. The program encourages students to make good choices, ask for help, gain support, and provides information and resources for making decisions about their own body and health.

Substance Use Education

In addition to our classroom curriculum, we offer individualized community presentations on vaping (nicotine), marijuana (cannabis), alcohol, and other drugs. These presentations are customized to fit the need of any audience, including: classroom presentations, healthcare staff meetings, teacher staff meetings, parent nights, and community events. The information can be presented in different formats and can vary in length depending on need (ranging from 10 minutes – 1 hour).

INDEPTH Program

Intervention for Nicotine Dependence: Education, Prevention, Tobacco and Health (INDEPTH) is a new, convenient alternative to suspension or citation that helps schools and communities address the teen vaping problem in a more supportive way. Instead of solely focusing on punitive measures, INDEPTH is an interactive program that teaches students about nicotine dependence, establishing healthy alternatives and how to kick the unhealthy addiction that got them in trouble in the first place.

Everyone’s an Asset Builder

Everyone’s an Asset Builder is designed to inform individuals about the Developmental Assets framework and motivate them to be effective asset builders. At the end of the session, participants will understand the Developmental Asset framework, be able to identify their own personal areas of strength and challenges, be able to identify multiple strategies and formats for sharing the asset message with their community, and make a personal commitment to asset-building action.

Strengthening Families Program

The Strengthening Families Program

The Strengthening Families Program is a 14-session, evidence-based parenting skills, children’s social skills, and family life skills training program specifically designed for families. Outcomes include increased family strengths and resilience, such as bonding and communication skills, and reduced risk factors for problem behaviors in high-risk children, including behavioral problems, emotional academic, and social problems.  Parents and children participate in SFP, both separately and together.

Intervention for Nicotine Dependence

Narcan (Naloxone) Training

Narcan (Naloxone) is a medication designed to rapidly reverse opioid overdoses. This training will teach participants how to: recognize signs of an opioid overdose, understand how to administer naloxone, describe actions that are essential in responding to an opioid overdose, know where to seek help for a substance use disorder in Midland County, and understand how families unintentionally enable substance use. This training will help you save lives.

Stigma Reduction Training

This 3-hour training will give participants a distinct set of knowledge and skills to help them understand and address substance use-related stigma. Upon completion of the program, participants will be able to identify the consequences of substance-related stigma on an individual’s willingness to access treatment, gain conceptual and practical tools for developing attitudes that challenge stigma, and learn how to support the needs of people who use substances.
