Adult Basic Education
Everyone needs to be able to read and do math to function effectively in today’s society. For people who struggle with these skills, The Legacy Center for Community Success is here to help!
Tutors in our Adult Basic Education program (ABE) lend a helping hand to individuals wanting to improve their reading, writing, and math skills so they can better meet the challenges of daily life and live fuller lives in ways like, but not limited to, the following:
- Complete a job application or improve their employment, help their children with homework, fill out a medical form, read the newspaper or fulfill a personal goal of being able to read better.
- Improve math skills to improve or gain employment, keep household finances and records, balance a checking account, and perform other daily tasks involving math.
- Prepare for a GED or high school diploma by going back to the basics to provide the learner with the foundation necessary to successfully complete a GED or high school diploma.
- Prepare for special one-off exams (for example: truck driving exam or entrance exam into the military)
Learners are matched with a tutor who will work with them one-on-one and at their own pace. Meetings take place a minimum of two hours per week for at least 20 weeks. All of our services are free and completely confidential.
Call our office at 989.496.1425 to learn more or schedule a meeting.
