Programs

Recovering Youth Futures

A treatment program for Midland County youth 18 years and under who struggle with substance abuse disorder.

Students will meet one-on-one with a Youth Intervention Specialist. Based on that assessment, a referral may be made for customized outpatient treatment at a participating service provider.

This powerful program factored into Midland County’s 98% decrease in alcohol and drug offenses for ages under 18 since 2002.

Strengthening Families

Parenting is not easy. It is even more challenging when a child is engaged with the juvenile justice system. Strengthening Families is a multi-week program with weekly classes for parents and their children to build better relationships and develop skills to reduce risk-taking behaviors.

[After participating in the program,] I see a lot more respect [from my son] towards me and his brother. [He] has been listening to my rules and listening when he is told no. We have a very loving, caring relationship.

[I’ve learned to] not let other people peer pressure you into doing stuff and to not let people ruin or interfere with the good things you have going for you.

[Our] relationship has gotten stronger since I’ve started using the methods taught to assess the situation and discuss with [my daughter] on her level.

Parent Participant in Strengthening Families program
[Since attending these sessions.] I feel that my family has gotten better at communicating and speaking things out and know to not [immediately] get mad at each other.

Teen Participant in Strengthening Families program
[My son] has started talking more about issues [instead of] shutting everyone out. [At the] start of the program he would never make it easy.

S.E.E.K. (Safe Environment for Every Kid)

SEEK (Safe Environment For Every Kid) offers a practical, evidence-based approach to help primary care providers address targeted risk factors for child maltreatment for families with children aged 0-5 years.

The goal is to identify risk factors among parents as early as possible (during pregnancy and/or well-baby visits) and provide referrals for local resources. SEEK aims to strengthen families, support parents and promote children’s health, development and safety. This ultimately helps reduce child maltreatment and neglect.
